Shields and Maia was exactly what you expected from Shields and Maia – really great grappling, somewhat weak standup, and a possible controversial finish. That’s what we got. You know what? Damn it, I liked it. It was a fun back and forth fight that saw Shields narrowly defeating Demian Maia by split-decision.
