Quinton “Rampage” Jackson could possibly be headed to One FC

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson has been rather quiet since leaving the promotion after a unanimous decision loss to Glover Teixeira in January at UFC on Fox 6. Now it looks like Rampage may have found a new promotional home, in the form of One Fighting Championship.

Jackson tweeted about “big news coming soon,” hinting at a return to fighting, saying that “It’s gonna feel good putting this chain back on,” in reference to the chain that he wears around his neck when he makes his entrance to fight. One FC president Victor Cui retweeted the tweet and followed it up by saying that he was looking forward to seeing Rampage next month.

Where there’s smoke there’s fire? For the time being this is just speculation and putting two and two together, but it gets you thinking. Knowing Rampage, he’d go where the money is, and One FC would seem like a potential candidate. The promotion doesn’t have much of a light heavyweight division and hasn’t had much of one so far in its short history.

Though he’s actually coming off three losses in a row and certainly appears to be past his prime, Rampage is still one of the bigger names in the sport of MMA and likely would draw attention no matter what the case. He hasn’t won a fight in two years, with his last win coming over Matt Hamill in May of 2011 at UFC 130.
