It looks like perennial Lightweight contender Nate Diaz will finally be making his return to the UFC following his layoff that took place due to contract disputes. The younger Diaz brother has a bout booked for UFC on FOX 13 in Pheonix, AZ against Rafael dos Anjos that will serve as the card’s co-main event.
Diaz has won four of his past six fights, most recently knocking out former title contender Gray Maynard in November of 2013. The victory over Maynard ended his two-fight losing streak that included losses to former UFC Lightweight champion Benson Henderson and former Strikeforce Lightweight champion Josh Thomson.
Following his victory over Maynard, Diaz elected to hold out due to the fact that he was unhappy with the monetary terms of his contract.
Diaz will return, but it looks like the UFC came out on the winning end of the contract battle, as a source close to the Diaz camp confirmed that Nate will be fighting under the terms of his old contract.
Diaz’s opponent, Rafael dos Anjos is currently ranked third in the UFC’s Lightweight division, winning seven of his last eight fights. That includes victories over Evan Dunham, Donald Cerrone and most recently, a first-round knockout victory over Benson Henderson. [source]
