Bjorn Rebney Isn’t Ready to ‘Force’ Rampage Jackson into Title Fight

Okay, so I’ll bite on this. As a fighter, your main goal in a promotion should be to become the champion of your weight class, if not, then what is the point of the whole thing outside of making money? For Rampage Jackson, he is now the #1 contender in Bellator’s Light Heavyweight division, but Bjorn Rebney doesn’t seem ready to make a fight between Rampage Jackson and Emmanuel Newton just yet. Why?

Because Rampage Jackson and Emmanuel Newton are friends. So what is the point of Rampage Jackson winning this tournament, anyway? It’s kind of confusing, but Bjorn Rebney, whom King Mo referred to as a “dick riding ass” when it comes to Rampage, seems to like the “soft touch” approach. [source]

“The reason ‘Rampage’ and I have had such a good relationship is we’ve approached things as guys working together, not me mandating what’s going to happen,” Rebney told MMAJunkie Radio. “That’s the same way we’re approaching this. You’ve got a guy with a split allegiance (in McKee), but ‘Rampage’ has earned a world title shot. … I’m going to talk to him about it, but I’m not going to disrespect a guy who’s been nothing but standup with us. He’s rocked and rolled as a promoter for us, so I’m not going to say we’re making this fight and plant this flag in the sand.”
