Submission FC Hemp BJJ Shirt Review

Introduction:

When you’re a Jiu-Jitsu practitioner sometimes you just have to own some awesome BJJ shirts for inside and xoutside of the gym. The shirt not only has to look good, but has to be comfortable and durable enough to train in as well. Submission Fight Co’s new Hemp BJJ shirts definitely fit that description.

Comfort:

The Submission Fight Co. BJJ shirts are made from 55% hemp and 45% organic cotton so the material is extremely comfortable and breathable. A medium seems to fit relatively well on my 6’0 150lb frame, but a small would likely be suitable as well depending on how you like your shirts to fit. These shirts are easily some of the most comfortable t-shirts I have ever worn, but I do have a few minor gripes with them. First, the logos are a bit itchy (especially on the white shirt), this does however subside after a few uses. I also did use these shirts in no-gi BJJ training, and while they were comfortable to train in and held up well, the shirts did seem to stretch a tad.

Design:

If you train or are a fan of the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, which I assume you are if you’re reading this, you have to admit that these designs are terrific. The blue shirt has a large logo of a shark coming out of the water, above the shark reads “The ground is my ocean,” while below the graphic reads “I’m the shark.” This shirt was inspired by a quote from BJJ legend Carlo Machado who said: “After the clinch, it doesn’t matter what happens, one way or another, we’re going to hit the ground, and we’ll be in my world. The ground is my ocean, I’m the shark, and most people don’t even know how to swim.”

The white shirt has the same blueprint, a large logo of a lion lies in the middle of the shirt, while above the shirt reads “If size mattered” and below reads “The elephant would be king of the jungle.” This shirt was inspired directly from the quote of another BJJ legend in Rickson Gracie who said: “If size mattered, the elephant would be king of the jungle.”

Another great thing about the design is that the Submission FC logo is perfectly placed in small print on the bottom of the sleeve. It’s not overbearing like you see with many shirts in the MMA sphere and it definitely doesn’t detract from the main focus of the shirt.

Closing Thoughts:

While the Submission Fight Co. Hemp BJJ T-shirts are a bit on the higher end when it comes to price ($39.95,) they are outstandingly comfortable shirts that fit well and are made from very high quality material. Personally, I would stick to rash guards for no-gi training, but if you prefer to wear T-shirts for training or just want a great looking BJJ shirt to wear out, either one of these would be a great choice and are highly recommended.

*Make sure to read washing and drying directions on the shirt. Do not machine dry, as this can cause the bottom of the shirt to form frills.
