World Series of Fighting match maker Ali Abdel-Aziz went on the MMA Hour today to challenge Bellator to a “winner takes all” pay-per-view event. Aziz put together a ten fight card, each with a WSOF fighter taking on a Bellator fighter; the main event would be what Aziz calls a “superfight” between WSOF’s Tyrone Spong and Bellator’s Quinton “Rampage” Jackson.
Aziz says he wants to do this to prove that WSOF is truly the number two MMA organization in the world, not Bellator.
The way this whole thing would work according to Aziz, is that the main event wouldn’t count, but the other nine fights on the card will go towards the “winner takes all” stipulation. The promotion that wins a majority of the nine fights will take all of the revenue from the event.
The fights on the aforementioned card are all follows:
Anthony Johnson vs. Bellator Light Heavyweight champion Attila Vegh, Andre Arlovski vs. Bellator Heavyweight champion Vitaly Minakov, Marlon Moraes vs. Bellator Bantamweight champion Eduardo Dantas, Yushin Okami vs. Bellator Middleweight champion Alexander Shlemenko, Rousimar Palhares vs. Douglas Lima, Justin Gaethje vs. former Bellator Lightweight champion Michael Chandler, or current Bellator Lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez, WSOF Featherweight champion Georgi Karakhanyan vs. Bellator Featherweight champion Daniel Straus, Jon Fitch vs. Rick Hawn, and lastly, David Branch vs. Brett Cooper.
In all honestly it’s very likely that Bellator won’t accept this challenge, or that there will be some complications due to Aziz doing all of the matchmaking, but it would be very exciting if this thing actually does come together.
