Always remember to temper your expectations when it comes to MMA viewership numbers, especially on new platforms. World Series of Fighting ran a live event on NBC this past weekend during the early afternoon in most of the United States. This was probably due in large part of UFC 175 taking place on the same day, but it was actually a sound tactic. World Series of Fighting 11 was a card that was fun for what it was an the viewers have spoken; MMA fans tuned in.
The number distributed by World Series of Fighting today is 906,000 viewers for WSoF 11 on NBC, which might not sound like a crazy number, but take into account that UFC on Fox numbers hover around the 2-2.5 million mark being heavily hyped up on Fox and Fox Sports outlets, this is a good number for the afternoon. In fact, it’s a good number for not being promoted heavily at all.
