Watch: Eddie Bravo vs. Royler Gracie (2003)

The rematch between Eddie Bravo and Royler Gracie will be taking place in just a few hours at Metamoris 3. But, before tuning into that, go back and watch the first time these men met back at the ADCC submission wrestling championships in 2003.

In that prolific match Bravo became the first American man to ever submit a Gracie in competition (as a brown belt nonetheless,) winning via triangle choke.

At the time Royler was considered to be one of the best Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioners in the world, which made Bravo’s victory so unbelievable and ultimately kick-started his career.

Since, Bravo has become known for his unorthodox style and his belief that no-gi jiu-jitsu is superior to the gi when it comes to MMA. He has trained many notable students including Joe Rogan, Ronda Rousey, Chuck Liddell, Shinya Aoki, etc..
