I’m not sure that I really get Vitor Belfort’s insistence on fighting at a catchweight is. Does he just not want to put in the effort to cut weight? Does he think that it will make him more popular to fight in between Middleweight and Light Heavyweight? I’m not sure that tactic worked for late-career Rich Franklin, honestly.
So the next target of his Catchweight, TRT-laden dream fights is apparently Chael Sonnen, as was announced on last night’s UFC Tonight on Fuel TV. Chael seemed open to the idea of them fighting at a Catchweight at UFC 168, but under the pretense that it is a title eliminator for the UFC Middleweight Championship. I’m not sure why two guys fighting a fight above 185lbs would be granted a title shot at 185lbs afterwards, but this is the UFC that we are talking about, who have made concessions for both guys in the past.
