UFC Using Subliminal Messages to Try to Sell UFC 173

We all have our own opinions on whether or not the UFC is watering down its product right now, which is fine. UFC 173 is a good card, mainly featuring lighter weight classes. It is headlined by Renan Barao vs. T.J. Dillashaw for the UFC Bantamweight Championship and apparently the UFC doesn’t believe in it selling, so what have they done? Placed subliminal messages in their UFC 173 trailer; the word “BUY” appears in huge text for a brief moment on the screen, as captured by Bleacher Report’s Jeremy Botter in this video.

Kind of weird, right? There are a lot of marketing techniques I could think of to try to sell this show to fans, but subliminal messages seems kind of creepy and weird. I wonder if this will make more people buy UFC 173 or not.
