UFC Heavyweight Shane Del Rosario Clinging to Life Still

It’s really crummy to have to reflect on a fighter’s life and career on a somber note, it is even worse when it was a younger fighter who still had a solid future ahead of them both in their career and in life, yet that is what we are forced to do on Thanksgiving Day 2013. We are very saddened to hear of the passing of former Strikeforce and UFC fighter Shane Del Rosario this afternoon.

His coach, Colin Oyama posted the somber news on Facebook today. [link]

The Del Rosario family and I, and all of our family, teammates and friends thank everyone for their prayers and support. God has a different path for Shane to take and instead has chosen to take Him away from us to be with his forefathers in Heaven. Yet through all of this our Faith in GOD remains unwavering.

Our thoughts go out to the family and friends of Shane Del Rosario, as well as the whole MMA community during such a difficult period.

UPDATE 11/28: There have been reports throughout the day that Del Rosario is still alive, but from everything we’ve heard from his good friends he was still physically alive this afternoon but there were no brain functions and his family had opted to not keep him alive via mechanical means. It’s not clear if he has actually passed yet or not.

UPDATE 11/29: Talk was of his family taking him off of life support this morning, but it seems they are still holding out hope.
