UFC Fight Night 54 took place in Halifax, Canada at the Scotiabank Centre.
The UFC Fight Pass portion of the preliminary card started strong with two finishes that lasted a combined time of one minute and 42 seconds. The rest of the preliminary card consisted of some entertaining decisions and a potential “Performance of the Night” winner in Olivier Aubin-Mercier’s reverse triangle victory over Jake Lindsey.
From there, the six fight UFC Fight Night 54 main card also kicked off strong with another submission finish. However, things slowed down from there as we saw four of of the card’s final five fights finish in lackluster decisions. Those decisions included victories for both “TUF: Nations” champions in Chad Laprise and Elias Theodorou and Rafael Assuncao.
However, in the main event of the evening Rory MacDonald brought us back to life, getting his first finish since April of 2012, finishing Tarec Saffiedine via TKO.
