UFC 182 will be a memorable event one way or another, due to what could be Jon Jones’ toughest test to date in undefeated Daniel Cormier.
While it’s no secret that Jones and Cormier have no love lost for each other, and their infamous press conference brawl sparked fan interest and will forever live in MMA infamy, the real story here is in the highest level of mixed martial arts that this fight brings to the table.
Jones, who along with being the UFC’s Light Heavyweight champion, is widely considered to be the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world, has only one loss on his record, which came via disqualification in a fight he was dominating.
Cormier, on the other hand, is a former captain of the men’s U.S. Olympic wrestling team and holds an undefeated professional MMA record of 15-0 with all but two of those victories coming at Heavyweight. Cormier also claims to have never lost a round in his MMA career.
To go along with Jones vs. Cormier, we also get a closer look at UFC 182’s co-main event, a battle of top Lightweights in number four ranked Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone and eighth ranked Myles Jury.
Cerrone currently holds a five-fight winning streak with four of the five victories coming via finish, while Jury boasts an undefeated record of 15-0, with six of those wins coming in the UFC.
These two have also had a bit of bad blood prior to their fight and have exchanged words publicly via Twitter.
