UFC 181: Hendricks vs. Lawler 2 Results

UFC 181 was a very entertaining card. On the prelims we saw three of six fights be stopped, which included two bulldog choke finishes and a Josh Samman head kick knockout of Eddie Gordon that could be a “Knockout of the Year” candidate.

On the main card there were also plenty of exciting finishes. Four of five main card fights came to an end via finish.

UFC Lightweight champion Anthony Pettis had a bit of early trouble with the pressure of Gilbert Melendez, but was able to come up big in round two, securing a slick guillotine choke, which caused Melendez to tap out. That marked the first time Melendez had ever been finished in his professional MMA career.

In the main event, Johny Hendricks and Robbie Lawler went at it once again. While it wasn’t as exciting as their first meeting, the fight had it’s moments. When all was said and done, Robbie Lawler walked away with a controversial split decision victory, becoming the new UFC Welterweight champion.
