UFC 161 Headliner Renan Barao Out With Injury

The injury bug has really sort of rendered the UFC’s Bantamweight division almost moot at this point, as Champion Dominick Cruz has been out with a knee injury and might not even fight this year at all and now Interim Champion Renan Barao has been forced to pull out of his June 15th fight against Eddie Wineland where he was to defend the UFC Interim Bantamweight Championship.

Luckily enough for the UFC there are other big bouts on the card, namely Mauricio Rua vs. Antoino Rogerio Nogueira and Rashad Evans vs. Dan Henderson if need be. There is always room for a replacement, but you’d have to wonder if they’d create another Interim Champion, creating three champions in one weight division. [Source: BE]
