Conor McGregor & Ben Askren Go at it on Twitter

It looks like Conor McGregor may not be getting an immediate shot at the UFC Featherweight title.

MMAJunkie reported that multiple anonymous sources with intel of negotiations confirmed that a bout between fifth ranked McGregor and 10th ranked Denis Siver is in the works for a UFC event in Boston on January 18th.

While the news of McGregor possibly having to beat another opponent before getting a title shot is exciting, there’s something even more exciting about this story, and it involves Ben Askren.

The former Bellator and current One FC Featherweight champion weighed in on the potential bout between McGregor and Siver, and gave his opinion on the UFC’s match making via Twitter. Askren seems to believe that the UFC is giving McGregor an easy bout in Siver in order to fast track him to a title fight.

Following Askren’s remarks, the outspoken Irishman followed up with a tweet of his own. McGregor not only insulted Askren, but called himself the number one contender in the Featherweight division.
