After a marathon 12+ hours of UFC action Stipe Miocic put an end to the night with a predictable exclamation point that was knocking Fabio Maldonado out. Fabio Maldonado is a tough, tough guy… At Light Heavyweight, but at Heavyweight it really didn’t seem like he was long for this world. Also take into account that Maldonado could probably cut to Middleweight and you can really get an idea of why this fight made zero sense outside of Maldonado being popular in Brazil.
This is another win for Stipe Miocic, though, in UFC’s less-than-robust Heavyweight division, which can only mean good things for him in the future. You also have to think that UFC brass is happy with Maldonado for stepping up on late notice against a competitor like Stipe Miocic, something that not many would do.
