Showtime Sports Looking to Add MMA Programming Back Into the Mix

Showtime was at one time one of the few channels where you could see regular MMA programming as they were the home of EliteXC, Strikeforce as well as a few M-1 Global events before they stepped away from the MMA game when the Strikeforce contract was up. Since then they’ve refocused their sports division and have really taken the lead when it comes to Boxing by making deals with Golden Boy Promotions as well as Mayweather Promotions, securing some of the biggest names in Boxing and some of the biggest fights under their banner.

But, they are still looking to add more content to their already stacked line up and MMA is definitely a consideration for them. According to MMAFighting, Showtime is once again looking at MMA properties and may be considering bringing something like Invicta into the Showtime fold. They aren’t willing to say that they are in any serious talks right now, but they are considering the likes of Invicta FC as well as some international brands, although those international brands sometimes bring added challenges such as language barriers and running international shows at odd times.

It will be interesting to see if Showtime brings aboard any new fight sports events in the near future, as they bring a lot of production knowledge and promotional power to the table with them and could help to really build up a new brand and fighters.
