Petition for Ben Askren in the UFC

1

A petition (twitition) was recently created in support of One FC Welterweight champion Ben Askren getting signed to the UFC.

Following his split with Bellator in 2013, Askren looked to sign with the UFC, but had disputes with UFC President Dana White and failed to garner an offer from the promotion. Askren would then instead sign with the up-and-coming Asian promotion One FC.

The former NCAA and world champion wrestler currently holds an undefeated professional MMA record of 14-0 and has finished his past four fights.

Here’s the description of the petition, which was created by @FunkyPetition on Twitter:

“For years Dana White and Lorenzo Fertitta have listened to the UFC fans, signing the most exciting and talented fighters to their organization, always making the best matches possible. When people screamed ‘We want Nick Diaz vs GSP,’ what did Dana and Lorenzo do? They heard us and got the deal done! Ben Askren is one of those polarizing stars—like Conor Mcgregor and Nick Diaz—that can’t be ignored, love him or hate him. As skilled in the cage as he is on the microphone. He commands attention. He’ll sell PPV’s. There are many intriguing matchups available for him in the UFC, most notably Johny Hendricks, given their history. And sure, Dana and Ben have had their differences, said things back and forth, but does that mean they can’t work together? Even Dana once said, ‘Don’t have to like ’em to do business with ’em.'”

The petition currently has 11 signatures (including my own); so if you are in favor of Ben Askren being signed to the UFC, take a look at the petition and spread the word.
