Pat Curran Chokes Out Daniel Straus with 14 Seconds Remaining, Regains Title

After over four and a half rounds of a very close fight, it seemed like things would head to the judges scorecard. It also seemed like Daniel Straus would retain his Bellator Featherweight title, likely edging out three of five rounds.

However, towards the end of round five Curran found the takedown and with less than one minute remaining Curran would secure Straus’ back.

From there Curran got his hooks in and looked to sink in the rear-naked choke.

It looked as if it was too late at this point and Straus would survive to hear the judges’ scorecard, especially due to the fact that the cage was keeping Curran from fully taking Straus’ back.

Still, Curran would somehow find a way to apply enough pressure to force Straus to tap out to the choke.
