The NFL does NOT want the UFC title belt at the Super Bowl media day

Now you know, don’t bring the UFC belt to the Super Bowl. Granted, the UFC would gladly take the Lombardi trophy into its arms, so this slight snub kind of hurts.

Here’s what happened, transcribed by Fansided with some exposition added by moi:

“What is that?” the NFL official asked.

“The UFC title belt, want to hold it?” Megan Olivi responded.

“We don’t want this around here,” he said. “This is wrestling stuff, right? Yeah, we don’t want that associated with us and this event. This is the NFL.”

Jay Glazer, NFL and MMA crossover personality argued that they were allowed to be here, and the NFL bent to his will.

“Alright,” he said. “But only do it with players on the floor. No podiums.”

And that’s how the NFL almost cockblocked the UFC belt from being at the Super Bowl media day.
