Legendary Renzo Gracie Considering a Return to the Ring

Renzo Gracie hasn’t fought in a while, only fighting once in the UFC since signing with them back in 2010, which was against another legend in Matt Hughes, with Hughes picking up the victory. Since then Renzo has kind of been hanging out, stopping muggers and live tweeting the whole thing and just doing what he does best, which is helping other fighters to prepare for their fights. But training around guys like Frankie Edgar and Roger Gracie has made that itch come back for Renzo; the itch to fight again.

Renzo believes that it is in the hands of the UFC, as he is contracted to them, but if they don’t have a fight for him he’d like for them to release him and allow him to pursue fights in other promotions, such as One FC in Asia.

“The UFC, they became a machine,” Gracie said. “So if you’re name is not out there and you’re not fighting, it’s difficult to keep yourself (busy).

“So it’s like if I don’t fight there, I don’t mind. I’ll be fighting for ONE; I’ll be fighting a Japanese organization. This for me is fun, and thank god I don’t need the money to do it.”
