Julianna Pena Out For Two Years with Injuries

The news came out late last night that Ultimate Fighter 18 winner Julianna Pena would be out for a staggering 18 months with injuries that she sustained during training. The injuries? A torn MCL, ACL, LCL, meniscus and hamstring that happened while grappling with a guy at the gym. For someone like Julianna Pena who was just beginning her UFC career this is a devastating setback for her, as two years away during her prime is huge, never mind that those injuries could forever change her ability to train.

Dana White seems critical of her gym for having her grapple with a male fighter, especially when something like this happens, as this seems like a rather extreme series of injuries and like it’d be difficult to be an accident. Take into account that Anderson Silva’s horrific leg snap won’t even see him out for two years.
