Sometimes fighters say stupid things, sometimes they say things that are just so idiotic that we all have to stop and wonder if they are for real. Josh Thomson said something pretty stupid yesterday, so stupid that he knew it was stupid, so he issued a press release to clarify his stance on it. Well, guess what? It might actually make things worse.
According to this press release, posted by BJPenn.com, Josh Thomson actually supports gay marriage, but was trying to provoke “deep thought” on the issues. So the press release features Thomson backtracking on his statements and then saying that he went and deleted those comments, which is expected. Then the last paragraph that attempts to explain how he was trying to provoke thought brings up NAMBLA. Yes, a press release from a professional fighter has brought NAMBLA into the MMASphere.
NAMBLA, for those who should consider themselves luckily unaware, is the North American Man/Boy Love Association, run by pedophiles who are looking to legalize homosexual relationships between men and young children. You may have seen them mocked on South Park. So Josh Thomson was simply trying to say if we allow the gays to marry, will we allow for NAMBLA’s goals to happen? Yet he supports gay marriage? What?!
Just stop.
