Jose Aldo to Defend Title Against Anthony Pettis in Rio on Aug. 3rd

It is quite a sight to behold when the UFC goes to Brazil and puts on a blockbuster card featuring big name Brazilian fighters and it looks like this summer we can expect more of the same from the UFC. Jose Aldo is set to defend his UFC Featherweight Championship against another former WEC standout in Anthony Pettis. Pettis was in line for a shot at the UFC Lightweight Championship, but that line seemed to be a bit too long for him, so he opted to drop down to Featherweight and take a shot at Jose Aldo.

We’ve known for a while now that August 3rd was when the fight would go down, but now according to a report from Tatame, we are looking at a blockbuster title fight in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This will mark Aldo’s second title defense in a row against former UFC Lightweights with there even being talk of Aldo possibly moving up to Lightweight in the future. It will feel like home for Aldo in the HSBC Arena in Rio where he dispatched Chad Mendes in January of 2012.
