Johny Hendricks Will Undergo Biceps Surgery

The new UFC Welterweight champion Johny Hendricks wasn’t making excuses when he claimed that he fought injured in his UFC 171 victory over Robbie Lawler.

Hendricks recently announced that he has a torn biceps and that he will have to undergo surgery on Monday.

Following surgery Hendricks should be on the shelf for a minimum of two months according to MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani, who tweeted the news of Hendricks’ injury:

“More on Hendricks. Rehab 4 wks after surgery, 4 wks of rehab (if all goes well) and hopefully start traning again in 2+ months.” tweeted Helwani.

While this may hold up the Welterweight title picture for a bit, it may not necessarily be a bad thing as there’s no clear cut number one contender at Welterweight.

If Hendricks decides to take some time off following surgery the UFC could make some key match ups to make way for the next title challenger to emerge.
