Johny Hendricks on not taking shots to the head while training

It’s my experience that headgear doesn’t really stop head trauma, but is there primarily to prevent cuts. That’s why the Olympics ditched the headgear for boxing but many still balked at the idea of the kids fighting multiple times a day getting cut. But Johny seems to think he’s taking zero head trauma while training I suppose?

All I know is that Johny isn’t a scientist. He said this to USA Today:

“I don’t take head shots (in camp), I have a helmet that’s two inches thick with a big nose bar. The reason why is that you don’t get paid in the gym; you get training in the gym. I want to save them for in the octagon, and I think that’s what helps me a lot.”
