Johny Hendricks: “If you can’t handle being champion, give it up.”

I like how people claim their children as a way to even up the odds or combat another person’s possible inner demons and life struggles as if those kids were given to them out of the ether one day. Listen up, parents: You had the kids, that’s your problem. If you’re up until 5 or 6 in the morning because you have three kids, maybe that’s your problem. Have your chick go on the pill, wear a rubber, just don’t use that as an excuse or as a way to explain how hard your life is. That’s dumb.

That’s just my opinion though. Once Johny has spent the better part of a decade on top of a sport, then he can talk. Until then, he will say things like this to MMA Mania:

“Dude I’ve got three kids. You know what I’m saying? Talk about sleep? Are you kidding me? Everybody’s got problems in life. That’s the way it is. If you can’t handle being champion, give it up. We chose to get into that octagon, we chose not to sleep. I don’t know how many times I’ve went to bed at five, six o’clock in the morning and woke up at 10, running four miles because I wanted to beat GSP that bad. Dude, who cares. I chose this life. Tell yourself whatever you need to. Just get back in that octagon with me. I can’t wait for the rematch.
