Holly Holm’s signing to the UFC was a big deal, with many believing that she should jump to the head of the line for a title shot against Ronda Rousey. That won’t be happening, but it apparently will be happening for former EliteXC and Strikeforce star Gina Carano. To some, that would be a bad thing, but for Holly Holm she seems to be okay with it. Carano has been on the big show before, so she can handle the pressure. There are a lot of girls who have been working hard for a shot who might deserve it a little more than someone who has been out that long, but Carano has put a lot of time in before. She’s earned her spot in certain ways. Who am I to say Carano is undeserving of an opportunity? I’ll let the promoter make those decisions.
This seems like the most level-headed approach to this situation right now. Holly Holm has yet to be featured in a big way just yet, having a few UFC fights will make her a bigger star and she’ll be comfortable fighting in the UFC. Gina Carano is used to being front and center and can handle the pressures.
