Hector Lombard Talks About His Cut to 170lbs

Hector Lombard is a pretty big dude, I think. He fights at 185lbs and quite honestly, he looks like he belongs there. The guy is just a huge physical specimen and not a guy that I’d look at and say, “you need to be down a weight class.” If there was a guy fighting at the wrong weight class, I’d say it is Rashad Evans who could easily make 185 and probably do pretty well in that division, do you get what I’m saying?

Anyway, Hector Lombard is still making that cut to fight Nate Marquardt and it turns out, it wasn’t his idea, it was the UFC’s idea to push him to 170.

“That wasn’t my plans, UFC wanted me to go to 170. They believe that I have, that I will perform better at 170 than 185. I have to do what the bosses say you know. Can’t argue with the bosses. If it were up to me, I would have stayed at 185. I have to be disciplined and I have to do what they want me to do. I’ve been training hard and I think I will be able to make it and I will be able to perform better that way. They said I’m too short for 185 and I would be big at 170.”
