After his impressive performance at UFC Dublin co-main eventing the event that will always be known as Conor McGregor’s coming out party, Gunnar Nelson will be back in action on October 4th in Stockholm, Sweden. Gunnar Nelson hails from Iceland, making him of Scandinavian descent, which makes him a solid choice to headline an event in Sweden. Rick Story is coming off of a win at the July 16th Cerrone vs. Miller event against Leonarda Mafra.
Both men are at different points in their careers, for sure. Gunnar Nelson is on a four-fight win streak within the UFC, all of his wins looking effortless and him earning two performance of the night awards. Story was at one time one of the UFC’s up-and-coming stars, with wins over Johny Hendricks and Thiago Alves before a loss to Charlie Brenneman led to his career entering into a more turbulent time. A win over Nelson could set him back on the path to being a viable contender again, while a win over Story will just be another sign that Gunnar Nelson is ready to step up in competition.
The event will air on Fight Pass.
