The UFC makes its return to Japan in September with Mark Hunt (Mark Hunto for the kids) squaring off against Roy Nelson and Japanese fans seem pretty pumped up about it. So much so that Gong, Japan’s leading fight sports magazine, has released their latest issue’s cover and it has, well, a lot of Dana White on it. In not all-that-flattering of a way. It’s fascinating in a way.
Why? Because Dana White is clearly the face of the UFC and for a market like Japan, this Gong cover just proves that Dana White is overshadowing the rest of the UFC. Dana White is the attraction when he comes to town because he’s been that public face of the company. The Gong article on the UFC is an interview with Dana White about happenings in Japan with the UFC, in case you were interested.
