Free Fight: Georges St-Pierre vs. Johny Hendricks

Current UFC Welterweight champion Johny Hendricks took on long-reigning champion Georges St-Pierre in the main event of UFC 167 in November of 2013. St-Pierre would walk away with his 12th straight victory inside of the octagon in a closely contested, controversial split decision.

Following the bout, St-Pierre would vacate the UFC Welterweight title and step away from the sport for the time being.

Due to St-Pierre taking a leave of absence, Hendricks would fight and defeat Robbie Lawler via unanimous decision for the vacant title at UFC 171 in another closely contested bout.

Hendricks will now be making his first title defense in a rematch against Robbie Lawler at UFC 181 on December 6th in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Before Hendricks and Lawler step into the octagon, take a look back at Hendricks’ first attempt at earning UFC gold in his bout against Georges St-Pierre.
