Free Fight: ‘Shogun’ Rua vs. James Te Huna

Ninth ranked UFC Light Heavyweight Mauricio “Shogun” Rua will be meeting 10th ranked Ovince Saint Preux in the main event of UFC Fight Night 56. Saint Preux was a late replacement for 11th Jimi Manuwa, who pulled out of the bout against Rua just 10 days prior to the event.

Before Rua and Saint Preux go at it, let’s take a look back at Rua’s UFC Fight Night 33 knockout victory over James Te Huna.

Going into the bout against Te Huna, Rua hadn’t won a fight since August of 2012 and was riding a two-fight losing streak with losses to Alexander Gustafsson and Chael Sonnen.

Some were expecting Rua to fall short for a third straight time when he met Te Huna, instead Shogun made quick work of the New Zealand native, brutally knocking him out in just over a minute with a devastating left hand.

UFC Fight Night 56 takes place on Saturday, November 8th at the Sabiazinho Gymnasium in Uberlandia, Brazil and will air on FOX Sports 1.
