Free Fight: Benson Henderson vs. Rustam Khabilov

Following an injury to Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson, UFC Fight Night 60 was left missing one half of it’s main event less than two weeks out.

The news of Thompson’s injury truly put a damper on the upcoming Fight Night card, as it was unlikely that the UFC would be able to find an amble replacement to face one of the top prospects in MMA in Bradon Thatch on such short notice. However, it was former UFC lightweight champion Benson Henderson, who was originally set to meet Jorge Masvidal at UFC Fight Night 63, who stepped up to save the event.

Henderson, who is coming off of a January 18th decision loss to Donald Cerrone, will be returning to the octagon in just under a month, and will be making his debut in the welterweight division.

Before we see Henderson take on Thatch in the main event of UFC Fight Night 60 on February 14th, let’s take a look back at his fourth round submission victory of Rustam Khabilov in June of 2014. Henderson struggled to find his groove early in this one, but eventually did in round two and took over from there. In the fourth round, Henderson would land a couple of big punches, which would lead to a rear-naked choke victory. This would be Henderson’s first finish victory since 2010 and his first finish in the UFC.
