If the UFC has one thing going on for them it would have to be having so many skilled fighters under contract, so many that they don’t know what to do with them sometimes. Two of those guys, Demian Maia and Jake Shields, will square off in the UFC cage this fall at an undisclosed date. Since moving down to Welterweight, Demian Maia has been doing pretty well for himself and was scheduled to fight Josh Koscheck before Koscheck had to pull out with an injury.
That has freed him up to square off against Jake Shields, known for his run in Strikeforce as well as his title shot against Georges St. Pierre. Shields hasn’t given up on his dream of being champion just yet and taking out Demian Maia would be a huge win for him, just like a win over Shields by Maia would push him up the ladder at Welterweight.
