Cormier was able to show off some of his lesser-seen submission skills in this fight when in the third round he locked in a rear naked choke.
In fact, Cormier has only pulled out a submission one other time in his career, so against the grappler a caliber of Dan Henderson a rear naked choke victory is huge. Near the end of round three Cormier had a rear naked choke locked in and Henderson refused to tap, instead the ref forced to call it for his safety.
