Here’s something else to go into the pile of “bet you didn’t know,” bet you didn’t know that Daniel Cormier was injured heading into UFC 173, so much so that he considered pulling out of the fight. According to Ariel Helwani, Daniel Cormier had injured his LCL ten days before the fight, with Cormier concerned that he couldn’t fight. He fought through the injury and it was for the best, as Daniel Cormier is now a top contender for the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship. [source]

As Ariel Helwani reported on Wednesday’s edition of UFC Tonight, Cormier revealed that he injured his lateral collateral ligament (LCL) while training for Henderson just ten days before he stepped in the cage at UFC 173.

In the days leading up to the big co-main event spot, Cormier feared he’d have to pull out of the fight. Instead, after getting some tests done, he battled through it.
