I think we can all agree that rape jokes and jokes about spousal abuse just aren’t really funny. I mean, yeah, I get that some idiot kids are all about claiming that they raped someone during a rousing session of Xbox Live, but we expect the bottom feeders to act like bottom feeders. When you are the face of a company, you are expected to be better, and Dana White held Chael to these expectations/
This is what Chael said about Mayweather, arguably the greatest fighter alive today, then mixed in a joke about abuse:
“Look, Floyd needs to keep doing what he’s doing, which is fighting complete tomato cans who we’ve never heard of before. I’ve never seen anybody in the history of America get so rich and so famous off of having complete wimps throwing punch at their faces. I know what you’re saying. You’re saying, ‘Well, it’s happened before, what about Rihanna?’ Shame on you. Classless. I will not stand for it. “
This was the boss’s reaction:
“The joke wasn’t that funny. He is not a comedian and you can’t make fun of domestic violence or any other thing. Chael needs to stop the comedy and do what he’s on that show to do. He’s great at it. He’s super talented. Leave the jokes to the comedians. He’s a sports commentator now and he needs to knock that shit off. It’s got to stop.
It’s got to stop or it’s not going to be good.
