Cub Swanson vs. Jeremey Stephens to Headline UFC Fight Night 43

Two streaking Featherweights will meet on June 28th in San Antonio, Texas to headline UFC Fight Night 43.

Jeremy Stephens recently made the drop to Featherweight and is riding an impressive three-fight win streak, which includes wins over Darren Elkins and a 40 second head kick knockout of Rony Jason.

Stephens’ opponent Cub Swanson is on an impressive winning streak of his own, winning his last five with four of those wins coming via KO/TKO.

While a win over Swanson likely wouldn’t put Stephens in a title fight, it would make him a top contender in a very deep Featherweight division.

As for Swason, his recent knockout wins have made for an impressive group in George Roop, Ross Pearson, Charles Oliveira and Dennis Siver. The only man able to make it to the judges’ scorecards with Swanson in his last five fights was top-ranked Featherweight Dustin Poirier.

A victory over Stephens could put Swanson in a long awaited title fight, which could make for a rematch with current UFC Featherweight champion Jose Aldo, who knocked Swanson out in merely eight seconds in 2009 in the WEC.

Other bouts for this event have yet to be announced.
