Countdown to UFC 171

UFC 171 is taking place this Saturday, March 15th at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. This “Countdown” episode focuses on the main event fight for the vacant UFC Welterweight title between Johny Hendricks and Robbie Lawler, as well as the co-main event between top Welterweight contenders Carlos Condit and Tyron Woodley, and veteran Diego Sanchez vs. an undefeated Myles Jury.

Aside from the usual training and life outside the gym, we get a look back at the aftermath of the UFC 167 Georges St.Pierre vs. Johny Hendricks title fight, which included the vacation of the UFC Welterweight title and how that effects many men on this UFC 171 card.

We also see the past of both men in the main event, including Robbie Lawler’s beginnings in the UFC which took place 12 years ago, as well as Johny Hendricks’ collegiate wrestling career at Oklahoma State Unviversity.

In addition to their beginnings into becoming the fighters they are today, we also look back at some of their most recent bouts in the UFC which led to them meeting for the UFC Welterweight championship.
