Conor McGregor vs. Jose Aldo Set for UFC 189

It’s official, Conor McGregor vs. Jose Aldo will take place on July 11th at UFC 189 during international fight week for the UFC featherweight title.

“We have the fight date for McGregor/Aldo, the biggest fight of the year. Saturday, July 11th, international fight week. I’m going to rip that Brazilian’s head off” said McGregor, as he broke the news himself at his UFC 183 fan Q&A.

McGregor, who has become one of the fastest rising stars that mixed martial arts has ever seen, is currently riding an impressive five fight unbeaten streak inside of the octagon, with knockout victories over names such as Dustin Poirier, Diego Brandao and, most recently, Dennis Siver.

McGregor’s brazen attitude has made him infamous, fans either love him or hate him, but they definitely care when he fights. Many even see McGregor being a possible foil to a Jose Aldo that seems virtually unbeatable.

As for Aldo, the one loss of his career came all the way back in 2005, and has since gone unbeaten, being the last WEC featherweight champion and the only UFC featherweight champion, a title he has defended seven times since 2011.

McGregor vs. Aldo has all of the anticipation and bad blood behind it to be one of the biggest pay-per-view events of 2015. The real question is, who ya got in this one? McGregor or Aldo.
