The second UFC on Fox Sports 1 event, titled UFC on Fox Sports 1 2 (Too many numbers!) takes place on August 28 in Indianapolis, Indiana at Bankers Life Fieldhouse and today the main event was announced for the card. A rematch between welterweights Carlos Condit and Martin Kampmann will serve as the headliner, adding to an already insanely stacked month of UFC action in August that includes four events.
Condit and Kampmann first met back in the main event of UFC Fight Night 19 in April of 2009, where Kampmann took home a split decision win after a very exciting fight that also was awarded Fight of the Night honors. This time around, however, Condit and Kampmann will get five rounds to fight it out, as opposed to the three that they fought last time.
Both fighters are in similar positions, having both lost to Johny Hendricks in their last fights. Condit comes off two losses in a row, losing a UFC welterweight title match to Georges St. Pierre before he went on to lose to the aforementioned Hendricks in March at UFC 158. A win for either fighter would likely get them right back into the mix at the top of the welterweight division. In the official UFC rankings, Condit sits at #2 while Kampmann is at #7.
