Bobby Green vs. Jorge Masvidal Added to UFC 178

Well that was quick. Following victories for both men this past Saturday at UFC on FOX 12, it was announced that Bobby Green and Jorge Masvidal will square off at UFC 178.

Green is coming off what is easily the biggest win of his career, defeating Josh Thomson via split decision in his hometown of San Jose. Green is currently ranked seventh in the UFC’s Lightweight division and is quietly riding an eight-fight winning streak following the victory over Thomson.

14th ranked Masvidal, on the other hand, has won five of his past six fights, most recently taking home a unanimous decision over a Daron Cruickshank who has looked fantastic as of late.

A win over the other could elevate either of these men into a place they’ve never been before, the UFC title picture.

This match up of top ranked Lightweights will go down on September 27th in Las Vegas, Nevada on a stacked UFC 178 card. The card will be headlined by a UFC Light Heavyweight title bout between champion Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier. It will also include the long-awaited return of former UFC Bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz, as well as a huge fight with title implications at Featherweight in Dustin Poirier vs. Conor McGregor.
