After seeing weeks of their ratings hovering around the one million mark, Bellator ratings were cut in half this past week, pulling in around 507,000 viewers for Friday’s event, a new low for Fridays on Spike TV for Bellator. This comes after Bellator’s Bjorn Rebney was in the press talking about how great their ratings are and how they would only be steady or go up from there. It seems that not all Bellator cards are made the same.
I think the broader implications need to be looked at, though, as GLORY’s ratings dipped as well (granted, not as drastically) on their last Spike TV outing. Maybe it is time to look at Spike TV and to ask them what they are doing to promote combat sports and make the network more of a friendly place for Bellator and GLORY events.
