Anthony Pettis Thinks that Benson Henderson is Boring

Who would have ever thought that the guy who pulled off the ‘Showtime Kick’ in a championship bout would ever consider a guy who has been winning decisions to be “boring?” Well, Pettis definitely does not consider himself a fan of former foe Benson Henderson who has gone on to see a great deal of success in the UFC cage while Anthony Pettis, the man who beat Benson in WEC, has languished, waiting for his shot at greatness.

Pettis, instead of waiting for a title shot, opted to take a “tune-up” fight against Clay Guida, which has proven to be a stumbling point for his career. He’s had a three-fight win-streak since then and has been anxiously awaiting his next title shot, which has hopped between divisions now before it ended up being against Benson Henderson once again. When Pettis is asked about Benson, he doesn’t exactly have great things to say, as he believes that he’s just doing enough to keep his title, which won’t cut it against Pettis.

“I’m not a fan of that style,” Pettis said. “I wouldn’t even try doing that. That’s just manipulating the rules of the game to keep your title. If you’re truly the best, I mean, look at Anderson Silva. He got knocked out in his last fight, but I think he’s truly the best because he’s finished some top guys, and he does it impressively. He’s not trying to grind it out and stay on top of you to win the rounds. He’s out there fighting fights. That’s what I respect, and that’s who I want to be.”
