Alistair Overeem Understands Gravity of Frank Mir Fight

Oh Alistair Overeem, you were supposed to take the UFC by storm, knocking out all of the competition in your path and easily capture the UFC Heavyweight Championship. Instead you kicked Brock Lesnar into submission and then forgot how to defend yourself against Bigfoot Silva and Travis Browne. It is safe to say that Alistair Overeem’s UFC run has been one of the more disappointing runs in recent memory, with Overeem coming in with a lot of hype behind him, a former K-1 World Grand Prix Champion and Strikeforce Heavyweight Champion.

His upcoming fight against Frank Mir is do-or-die and Ubereem understands that, almost too much.

“I’m telling you this, if I lose to Frank Mir I’d better start doing something else,” Overeem said during an appearance The MMA Hour. “If I lose to him and that’s three in a row, then I’d better start doing something else, right?”

Asked if he’d retire at that point, Overeem wouldn’t go as far as that.

“Well, I’d still like to fight a couple of years — that being said, I’m not going to retire. Primarily, I just need to beat this guy.”
