Alistair Overeem Return to the Ring in the Works for UFC 164

Alistair Overeem, the former Strikeforce Heavyweight Champion and DREAM Heavyweight Champion, as well as 2010 K-1 World Grand Prix Champion might be making his return to the ring sooner rather than later if sources are correct. Alistair Overeem was forced to pull out of a megafight between himself and Junior Dos Santos due to an injury that he sustained while training, but he looks to be healthy and ready to go for the August 31st UFC 164 in Milwaukee.

This would be Overeem’s first fight back since his devastating loss to Bigfoot Silva, a fight which wasn’t supposed to happen, as Overeem was supposed to get a title shot initially, but failed a drug test. The striker got a bit cocky in his last outing and paid the price for it against a very tough Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva. There is no opponent slated yet, but the rumors are flying around already that it might be a “lesser” opponent to set Overeem back on a winning path.
