Well, it came as no shock that Alexander Gustafsson was upset when Jon Jones vs. Daniel Cormier was delayed until January. Why? Because Alexander Gustafsson was supposed to be facing Jon Jones in September, but an injury led to him having to pull out of the fight. The irony, of course, is that the UFC wouldn’t delay the fight between him and Jones, but when Jones gets injured — and they see dollar signs — they are willing to delay a fight.
So what has Alexander Gustafsson opted to do? He’s opted to sit out until he gets a title shot.
The only problem with this is that his last fight was on a Fight Pass card and he might not fight for another year at this point. That’s an awfully long time to wait to fight, isn’t it? [source]
