Alexander Gustaffson on going from PPV main event to Fight Pass, “it sucks a little bit”

We are sure it does suck a little bit, Gus. You’re going from hundreds of thousands of people watching to maybe tens of thousands at best, but keep your chin up, Gus. This fight with Manuwa is sure to be awesome, even if a lot of people don’t know about this ninja assassin, Manuawa (they should). I personally think this fight could be a classic. Gus is a fantastic fighter and so is Jimi, but I won’t be able to watch it because I will be wearing a tuxedo at a wedding ceremony. Bummer.

Maybe I can wake up early.

When Gus was on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Hour, he came clean on Manuwa and being on Fight Pass.

“Well, that sucks a little bit.”

“I didn’t know about that until just a few weeks ago, but a fight is a fight. I think Jimi Manuwa is a very dangerous fighter,” Gustafsson said. “I think with this ranking system he’s a lot better than the guys that are higher ranked. He’s a very dangerous fighter that has been sneaking around the shadows. Nobody knows about him, but he’s very dangerous. So, I’m really looking forward to the fight on Saturday.”
